The Varthur Police have solved a high-value mobile phone showroom burglary case with the arrest of three suspects, including a food delivery executive, accused of stealing 39 new mobile phones and other electronic gadgets worth Rs40.5 lakh.
The prime accused, Divas Kami, and his associate Arohan Thapa, were apprehended after police traced them using CCTV footage and technical evidence. Investigations revealed that the duo are habitual offenders who broke into the showroom through its emergency exit door.
Officials noted that many mobile showrooms and ATMs lack adequate security guards and electronic surveillance, making them easy targets for such crimes.
The stolen mobile phones were handed over to their female accomplice, Asmitha Bhora, who allegedly attempted to sell them. Police have taken all three into custody and are investigating their criminal backgrounds and potential involvement in similar thefts.
The case highlights the growing concern over security vulnerabilities in commercial establishments across the city.
