In a major breakthrough, an EGPD team from Dispur Police Station foiled a human trafficking attempt and arrested four accused traffickers, including a woman.
The accused were identified as Hemanta Borah (32) from Chatia, Jainur Ali (38) from Dodora, Aminul Islam (36) from Lakhipur, and a woman whose identity has not been disclosed. Acting on credible intelligence, the police intercepted the traffickers before the crime could be executed.
Five victims were rescued safely during the operation. Their identities have been kept confidential due to the case’s sensitive nature.
Legal proceedings under relevant human trafficking and abduction laws have been initiated against the accused. Investigations continue to uncover links to broader trafficking networks.
