NIGER STATE, NIGERIA — The Niger State Police Command has arrested Michael Musa, a dismissed soldier, for allegedly impersonating military personnel and committing multiple acts of fraud and theft targeting Point of Sale (PoS) operators across the state.
In a statement released by police spokesperson SP Wasiu Abiodun, the command confirmed that the case originated from a referral made by a Magistrate’s Court to the Tudun-Wada Police Division on May 27. According to reports from three victims, Musa—dressed in full military uniform—approached a PoS shop near Musa Bello Primary School in Bida on May 12 and fraudulently obtained N120,000 before fleeing the scene.
Further investigations linked Musa to two additional incidents:
May 23, at Kataeregi: allegedly collected N300,000 from another PoS operator.
May 29, along Mandela Road, Minna: allegedly defrauded another victim of N50,000.
Using intelligence-gathering, police operatives arrested the suspect—still in military attire—on Mandela Road in Minna. During interrogation, Musa confessed to the crimes and admitted to being a dismissed soldier from Benin, Edo State, discharged in 2022.
SP Abiodun confirmed that more victims have come forward, and the case remains under investigation
