Savina police in Udaipur have arrested three members of a notorious house theft gang responsible for multiple burglaries in Udaipur and Jaipur, recovering details of robberies involving lakhs in stolen cash and jewelry.
The arrested men have been identified as Dipu Bairwa and Leelaram Bairwa, both residents of Fulia Kala in Bhilwara, and Kalu Bagaria from Sarana, Ajmer.
According to Station Officer Ajay Singh Rao, the gang used a systematic approach: they conducted reconnaissance during the day and returned at night in a car. Two members would enter and loot homes, while one remained in the car to keep watch and ensure a quick escape.
The investigation began after Bhagwati Prasad Ameta, a resident of VIP Colony, reported a theft at his house on February 15. While his family was attending a wedding, burglars broke the main lock, ransacked the rooms, and escaped with:
A 7-tola gold necklace
Two gold rings
Two chains
A nose ring
Silver anklets and toe rings (approx. 500 grams)
Rs40,000 in cash
During interrogation, the accused confessed to four more thefts in Jaipur—three in Vaishali Nagar and one on 200 Feet Road—over the last nine months. In December, they had looted Rs3 lakh and gold jewelry from another house in Savina, Udaipur.
The gang is also linked to multiple burglary cases across Rajasthan. The police are now conducting further investigations to recover the stolen items and uncover additional crimes committed by the trio.
