After being on the run for five months, Dipankar Kashyap, a 25-year-old Jharkhand native, was arrested by Quepem police on Wednesday in connection with a major theft and misappropriation case at a South Goa resort.

Kashyap, who worked as a trainee manager at a resort in Molcornem, Quepem, was apprehended at another resort in Candolim with the coordination of Calangute police.

The case dates back to April 10, when Quepem police filed an FIR against Kashyap for multiple offences committed during his employment. Investigations revealed that he allegedly misappropriated over Rs 78,000 through fraudulent invoices, stole Rs 80,000 in cash, and made away with a motorcycle and a mobile phone belonging to the resort. The total estimated value of the theft and misappropriation stood at Rs 2.5 lakh.

Police had been actively searching for Kashyap since the incident. The breakthrough came when intelligence indicated that he was staying at a resort in Candolim. Acting on this tip-off, Quepem police, in coordination with Calangute police, successfully apprehended him.
