WALDORF, Md. – A months-long investigation into suspected drug trafficking near shops in the 300 block of Smallwood Drive has led to the arrest of two individuals on firearm and drug charges, according to the Charles County Sheriff’s Office.
In June 2025, officers with the Neighborhood Enforcement Team began receiving repeated complaints about narcotics activity in the area. One of the primary suspects was identified as Diontay Hattix, 39, of Waldorf.
On August 13, officers observed Hattix participating in what appeared to be a drug transaction in a parking lot. After the deal, they conducted a traffic stop on the buyer, identified as Domanic Marks-Wiggins, 28, of Washington, D.C.
Marks-Wiggins fled on foot but was quickly apprehended. A loaded 9mm handgun and a quantity of cannabis were recovered from his vehicle. Investigators confirmed he is prohibited from possessing firearms due to a previous felony conviction for a crime of violence.
He was charged with:
Possession of a loaded firearm in a vehicle
Illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition
Possession of a firearm without a serial number
Other related offenses
On August 18, a search warrant was executed at Hattix’s residence on Tadcaster Circle, which led to the discovery of:
A large amount of packaged cannabis
Drug packaging materials
Currency
A handgun with an obliterated serial number
Ammunition and extended high-capacity magazines
Hattix, also prohibited from firearm possession due to a prior felony conviction, was arrested at the scene and charged with:
Possession with intent to distribute cannabis
Illegal possession of a firearm
Additional firearm and drug offenses
The Neighborhood Enforcement Team continues to investigate this case. Authorities say more arrests may follow.
