In a swift crackdown on local drug peddling, the Pune City Police Crime Branch’s Anti-Narcotics Cell arrested a 19-year-old youth, Dinesh Manaram Devasi, for attempting to sell mephedrone in the Kondhwa area. Police seized 44 grams of the banned drug, along with a mobile phone and a two-wheeler, together valued at around Rs1.5 lakh.

Devasi, a resident of Ghorpadi originally from Rajasthan, was apprehended based on a tip-off received by Police Constable Vishal Dalvi, who later filed the official complaint. Acting swiftly, the anti-narcotics team laid a trap and detained Devasi in possession of the contraband.

A case has been registered against him under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at the Kondhwa Police Station.

In a separate action, the Pune police also busted an illegal hookah parlour operating in the Lullanagar area of Kondhwa, despite a state-wide ban on such establishments. A case has been registered against Mushir Bashir Sheik, the operator of the parlour.

The Pune police continue their aggressive stance against narcotics and unlawful businesses, emphasizing public safety and strict enforcement of the law.
