Dindoshi police have arrested 26-year-old Sadique Khurshid Shaikh for allegedly stealing multiple two-wheelers across localities to take his girlfriend on daily joyrides. Investigators say that whenever a stolen bike ran out of fuel, Shaikh would abandon it and move on to the next vehicle. The case came to light after a Honda Activa 5G was reported stolen on January 9 from Film City Road in Goregaon East.
Following instructions from Mahesh Chimate, DCP Zone XII, and guidance from Senior Inspector Mahendra Shinde, PSI Ajit Desai and his team used CCTV footage, informants, and technical surveillance to identify and arrest Shaikh on February 5.
During interrogation, police recovered three stolen two-wheelers worth rS1.10 lakh, solving three theft cases registered at the Dindoshi and Kurar police stations. Shaikh, who has no parents and lives with two sisters in Kurar’s Tanaji Nagar, has a history of drug addiction and prior theft convictions. His sisters had previously helped him secure bail, but eventually stopped due to his repeated offenses.
Police confirmed that Shaikh’s motive was to impress his girlfriend and create a flashy lifestyle. He remains in custody while further investigation continues.
