Bengaluru police arrested 19-year-old Dilbar Hussain from West Bengal for allegedly uploading edited and inappropriate videos of women on Instagram to gain followers.
Hussain, who worked as a food delivery agent and resided in a rented house in the Ashoknagar area, created an Instagram account under the name ‘Dilbar Jani’. When his account failed to attract followers, he reportedly began using photos and videos of women sourced from the internet.
In addition, Hussain allegedly recorded videos of women during his delivery work without their consent, edited them with film songs, and posted them online.
The police discovered the content online and filed a suo motu case. Hussain’s mobile phone has been seized, and further investigations are underway.
Authorities also noted a rise in similar incidents in Bengaluru, where individuals take photos or videos of women in public spaces, such as metro trains, and post them inappropriately online. Police have vowed to closely monitor such cases to ensure public safety.
