Jammu police arrested Dil Mohammad, a driver from Digiana Ashram, after recovering 1.937 kg of cocaine along with Rs9,000 in counterfeit currency, officials said on Monday.
The case began on February 3, when a branch manager of Punjab National Bank reported fake currency deposits totaling Rs9,000 made by Dil Mohammad at the Bari Brahmana branch. A case was registered under Sections 180/318(4) of BNS at the Bari Brahmana police station.
During investigation, police examined Dil Mohammad’s bank statements, which revealed suspicious balances of Rs18 lakh in J&K Bank and Rs2.4 lakh in PNB. On sustained questioning, the accused admitted that he earned the money by selling cocaine and other narcotics over time.
Acting on his confession, officers recovered two packets of cocaine, carefully hidden in the garage of Jindal Cocoa Factory, where Dil Mohammad was employed. The drugs were wrapped in cardboard and adhesive tape, confirming his involvement in a large-scale drug trafficking operation.
Police said further investigation is underway to trace the network supplying and receiving the narcotics.
