New Delhi, October 16, 2025 – The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested Harcharan Singh Bhullar, a 2009-batch IPS officer, currently serving as Deputy Inspector General (DIG), Ropar Range, Punjab, in a bribery case involving Rs8 lakh.
The CBI confirmed Bhullar’s arrest along with that of a private individual, following a complaint that the officer had demanded and accepted a bribe. The complaint also alleged that Bhullar was seeking recurring illegal monthly payments from the complainant in exchange for official favors.
According to the agency, the bribe was part of a larger corrupt arrangement between Bhullar and the private party. The arrest was made after verifying the allegations and conducting surveillance operations.
Harcharan Singh Bhullar is now in CBI custody as further investigation is underway to identify others possibly involved and to track financial trails connected to the case.
This high-profile arrest adds to growing concerns over corruption within police services, and the CBI has assured that strict action will follow based on the evidence collected.
