DENVER, Colo. – Denver police have arrested Diego Ortega-Camero, 45, in connection with a deadly road rage crash that occurred Sunday evening, leaving one person dead and another critically injured.
The incident happened around 7:25 p.m. at the intersection of East Hampden Avenue and South Yosemite Street. Officers arrived to find two adult males who had been riding the same motorcycle. One was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
According to investigators, the crash stemmed from a verbal altercation between the motorcyclists and Ortega-Camero. At some point during the confrontation, the motorcyclist reportedly fired a shot. Later, both parties met again at the intersection where the crash occurred.
Evidence suggests that Ortega-Camero intentionally rammed the motorcycle, forcing it into the path of an oncoming vehicle, which resulted in the deadly impact. After the collision, Ortega-Camero fled the scene on foot.
He was arrested Monday, just one day after the incident, and is now facing charges related to the fatal crash.
