Chongkham Police in Arunachal Pradesh have cracked a major forgery case involving the use of a fake Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC) to gain employment in the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), 64th Battalion, at Barama Camp, Howly in Assam.

The case, registered under Chongkham PS Case No. 30/2024 under Sections 468 and 471 IPC, was initiated by K. Loya, CO-cum-Executive Magistrate, after SSB authorities confirmed that the submitted PRC was fraudulent.

The first accused, Dheeraj Kumar, a resident of Gunauli village in Auraiya district, Uttar Pradesh, was arrested from the SSB Camp in Howly shortly after the case was filed.

The co-accused, identified as Shivam Parihar, who also goes by Nagendra Singh, had been absconding. He was finally apprehended on July 19, 2025, from his native village in Uttar Pradesh by a police team that traveled over 1,600 km to execute the arrest.

The arrest operation was led by SI Aditya Chandra, SI(SG) M. Prasad, and SI(SG) D.K. Singh, who successfully located and detained the suspect in coordination with local UP authorities.

SP Sange Thinley lauded the team’s professionalism and quick action, emphasizing that the police remain vigilant against fraudulent practices that compromise institutional integrity.

The Namsai District Police issued a strong message, reaffirming their zero-tolerance policy towards document forgery and manipulation of public systems.

This case underscores the growing need for stringent verification in recruitment processes, particularly within central armed forces.
