An accountant at CBS College of Pharmacy and Technology has been arrested for allegedly embezzling Rs7.46 lakh in student fees, according to police reports.
The accused, Dharmish Patel, allegedly misappropriated funds by diverting cash payments made by students instead of depositing them into the college’s official bank accounts.
The matter came to light after college chairperson Amit Kumar filed a complaint at Chainsa police station, claiming discrepancies in the fee records. According to the complaint, Patel collected fees in cash from multiple students and issued receipts but failed to deposit the money. Instead, he falsely recorded these as online payments.
Upon cross-verification of receipt records with online payment data, the college administration discovered the deception. The alleged fraud occurred over a span of five months during Patel’s employment.
“Dharmish Patel, originally from Ballia district in Uttar Pradesh, was working with the college for about five months. He has been arrested, presented in court, and sent to judicial custody,” said Yashpal, spokesperson for the Faridabad police.
Authorities are continuing the investigation to determine if additional amounts were misappropriated or if others were involved.
