GRANDVIEW, Mo. (KCTV) — A 47-year-old Grandview man has been arrested and charged in a major drug trafficking case after authorities seized nearly 4 pounds of cocaine, multiple firearms, and over $63,000 in cash from his home.

According to Jackson County Circuit Court records, Dewayne C. Clarke was charged on Friday, Sept. 19, following an extensive investigation by the Jackson County Drug Task Force.

The investigation began in July after a confidential informant (CI) reported that Clarke was distributing large quantities of crack cocaine in the area. Officials coordinated a series of controlled drug buys:

Aug. 6: 12.9 grams of crack cocaine for $350

Aug. 21: 15.1 grams for $350

Aug. 26: 26.6 grams for $650

Sept. 3: 26 grams for $650

Sept. 17: 23.8 grams for $650 and 5 fentanyl M-30 pills for $100

Clarke reportedly used a different Enterprise rental vehicle for each transaction. Authorities confirmed that he had rented a 2025 Chevrolet Trailblazer, which was due back Sept. 27.

During the course of the investigation, Clarke also offered to sell a firearm to the CI, despite being a convicted felon barred from possessing weapons.

On Sept. 19, police executed a search warrant at Clarke’s residence. The search uncovered:

5 firearms

Multiple magazines and ammunition

Nearly 4 lbs. of cocaine

Half a pound of marijuana

5.4 grams of methamphetamine

Drug paraphernalia

$63,174.68 in cash

After his arrest, Clarke admitted that he acquired the drugs as a business “opportunity.”

Clarke now faces seven charges:

Trafficking drugs

Unlawful possession of a firearm

Five counts of delivery of a controlled substance

If convicted on all counts, Clarke could serve up to 75 years in prison under Missouri law.

He is currently being held on a $500,000 bond at the Grandview Police Department. A bond review hearing is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Oct. 1, with a preliminary hearing set for 10:30 a.m. on Oct. 20.

No additional information has been released as the investigation continues.
