Dewas police have arrested five individuals in connection with a cryptocurrency fraud case, recovering Rs1.04 lakh along with six mobile phones, bringing the total seized assets to Rs2.33 lakh.
The case came to light after Chetansingh Solanki, 45, a resident of Ismail Khedi village in Sehore district, currently living in Anand Vihar Colony, Dewas, lodged a complaint on December 6. He stated that between November 2 and November 5, unknown persons contacted him via WhatsApp, promising high returns through cryptocurrency investments, and defrauded him of Rs1.04 lakh in instalments.
Industrial Area police station in-charge Inspector Shashikant Chaurasiya formed a special investigation team, which analyzed digital evidence and followed the technical trail to identify the accused within 13 days. The team also froze the bank accounts used to receive the transferred funds.
During interrogation, the accused admitted to hiding their identities and luring the complainant with promises of cryptocurrency profits. They were presented in court, which granted police remand.

Bablu Makwana alias Ajay, 30, from Dhablaveni village, residing in Tirupati Platinum Colony, Nanakheda, Ujjain
Lakhan Panwar, 32, from Malikhedi village, currently at Premnagar, Maksi Road, Ujjain
Rahul Tomar, 30, from Peerjhalar village, currently at Vivekanand Colony, Ujjain
Areeb Ali Khan alias Ali, 22, resident of Parwana Nagar, Ujjain
Alwaheed Khan alias Rumi, 27, resident of Parwana Nagar, Ujjain
Police recovered Rs1.04 lakh in defrauded money and six Android mobile phones valued at approximately Rs1.29 lakh from the accused.
