In a key breakthrough, Delhi Police arrested 22-year-old Dev Pratap Singh on Sunday from Bhopura, Uttar Pradesh, in connection with a double murder case registered in Harsh Vihar.
Singh, a resident of Mandoli, Delhi, had been on the run since September 5, when two men — Sudhir and Radhey Prajapati — were shot at in the parking area of C-Block, Pratap Nagar. Both victims later died during treatment at GTB Hospital, a senior officer confirmed.
Police said the incident stemmed from an earlier altercation on August 29, involving the victims and two of the accused — Pradeep and Pramod.
A case was filed at Harsh Vihar police station, and a special investigation team was formed. During the probe, four suspects — Chetanya Tomar, Pradeep Bhati, Pawan Bhati, and Pramod — were arrested. However, Dev Pratap Singh and another suspect, Sumit, had been absconding.
Acting on a tipoff, the team tracked Singh to the Bhopura border, where he was found hiding inside a car, which has since been seized. During interrogation, Singh confessed to conspiring with his associates to murder the victims over old enmity.
“On the day of the attack, the group arrived on two motorcycles and opened fire before fleeing the scene,” he told police.
Authorities say further investigations are ongoing, with efforts underway to arrest the remaining accused.
