DETROIT (CBS DETROIT) – Desuan Travon Ross, 31, has been charged with first-degree murder and felony firearm following the fatal shooting of his girlfriend, Eboni Robinson, 29, on Valentine’s Day in Detroit.
Ross was arraigned on the charges and remanded to jail after a magistrate hearing on Sunday in 36th District Court. A probable cause hearing is scheduled for February 24, and a preliminary exam is set for March 3.
According to Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy, the incident occurred shortly before 9 a.m. on February 14, when Detroit Police responded to a shooting report in the 17400 block of Washburn. Upon arrival, officers discovered Robinson’s vehicle crashed into the front porch of a nearby home. Robinson, found inside the car with multiple gunshot wounds, was pronounced dead by medics.
It is alleged that Ross and Robinson were arguing inside the vehicle, and as the dispute escalated, Ross exited the car and fired a handgun multiple times into the driver’s side window, striking Robinson. The vehicle then traveled across the street and crashed. Ross allegedly followed this by firing a rifle into the vehicle, fatally wounding Robinson.
The Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office is also urging those experiencing domestic violence to seek help and providing resources on its website, including support services and shelters.
