NEW ORLEANS — An Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office (OPSO) deputy has been arrested for allegedly working off-duty details while still receiving her regular OPSO salary.
Detective Sharhonda Hadley was taken into custody following an investigation by OPSO’s Investigative Services Bureau and Internal Affairs-Criminal Section into allegations of financial mismanagement. Investigators discovered payroll irregularities showing Hadley was compensated for off-duty work while on the clock—a pattern of financial misconduct.
Hadley was terminated prior to her arrest and faces charges of public payroll fraud and malfeasance in office.
Hadley is the fifth OPSO deputy arrested in the past week, following the arrest of four deputies tied to the unauthorized use of force against an inmate.
Sheriff Susan Hutson emphasized the department’s commitment to integrity: “This arrest, and the unrelated arrests announced last week, show that we continue to do the hard work of maintaining the integrity of our institution.”
