Detective Jessie Phillips Arrested in Donation Fraud Case

Allegedly stole funds from ‘Shop with a Cop’ charity

by Sophia Bennett

GRANT PARISH, La. – A Winnfield Police Department detective has been arrested on multiple charges related to the alleged misuse of funds from a children’s charity he helped organize.

According to the Grant Parish Sheriff’s Office (GPSO), Detective Jessie Phillips was taken into custody and charged with:

Theft over $1,000

Illegal transmission of monetary funds

Malfeasance in office

Phillips allegedly solicited donations for Winnfield’s “Save a Kid – Shop with a Cop” program, claiming the funds would be used to support underprivileged children.

However, investigators say that instead of directing the funds toward children in need, Phillips pocketed the donations for personal use.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have not yet disclosed how much money was misappropriated. The Grant Parish Sheriff’s Office confirmed Phillips’ arrest and is working in coordination with local agencies to uncover the full extent of the alleged fraud.
