Two men, Derrick Jules and Benson Blaise, both 32, have been charged with first-degree murder and robbery with a firearm in connection with a 2019 homicide in Pompano Beach, Florida.

The victim, Clarens Calixte, was found fatally wounded in the early hours of December 20, 2019, at 327 SW Second Ave. He later died at Broward Health North Hospital. After a lengthy investigation, authorities identified Jules and Blaise as the main suspects.

Jules appeared before Broward County Circuit Judge Florence Taylor Barner and was ordered to be held without bond, with restrictions against firearm possession if released. Blaise, who had been in custody since May for a separate case, was re-arrested in August for this incident. Both men face identical charges.

Jules was arrested in the Tampa area with the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Service. His criminal record includes convictions for grand theft and aggravated assault with a firearm, and he was on probation until November 2026. Blaise is a convicted felon who was released from prison in 2023.

Both cases are expected to be presided over by Broward County Circuit Judge Michael Allen Usan.
