HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. — The manager of a Hamilton County family resource center is facing charges after allegedly assaulting her ex-girlfriend, authorities said.
According to an arrest report, officers responded to a call for a simple assault on Hickory Lane on February 2. The victim told police that Derienne Busby, who was picking up her son as a favor, became involved in an argument when dropping him off.
The report states that Busby pushed the victim and struck her on the side of her head. When the child tried to intervene, Busby allegedly shoved him into a trash can. Busby has been charged with domestic assault.
Busby serves as the program manager for Hamilton County’s Center for Thriving Families. Following the arrest, the mayor’s office confirmed she has been placed on a three-day unpaid suspension in accordance with the county’s employee handbook. Afterward, she will remain on leave pending the resolution of the case.
