CONWAY — A Fryeburg, Maine man has been arrested and charged with three Class A felony counts of theft by deception in connection to an alleged roofing scam that targeted local homeowners.
Conway Police announced Wednesday that 42-year-old Derek Moss was taken into custody following an in-depth investigation into complaints from residents who claimed he failed to complete contracted roofing work.
Investigators say Moss offered two Conway residents roofing services through quotes and advertisements, including a June 2024 ad placed in The Conway Daily Sun under the name DM Roofing. After securing more than $16,000 in deposits, Moss allegedly never returned to complete the promised repairs.
Detective Richard Gaudreau of Conway PD’s Investigative Services Division led the case, which resulted in a court-approved arrest warrant.
Moss was arrested on Monday and later released on personal recognizance bail. He is scheduled to appear for arraignment on June 3 at 9:30 a.m. in the 3rd Circuit District Division Conway Court.
