BEDFORD, Va. — A suspect has been taken into custody in connection with a series of serious child sex offenses. Derek David Browning was arrested on Wednesday by the Bedford Police Department, following a coordinated investigation with the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office and consultation with the Bedford County Commonwealth Attorney’s Office.
Browning faces six felony charges, including:
Two counts of forcible sodomy
One count of indecent liberties with a minor
One count of penetration of the mouth of a minor
Two counts of aggravated sexual battery
Following his arrest, Browning was transported to the Blue Ridge Regional Jail, where he is currently being held without bond.
Law enforcement officials have stated that no further details will be released at this time due to the sensitive nature of the case and to protect the identities of those involved.
