LONGVIEW, Texas — A Longview man has been charged with murder in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred two days after Christmas.
28-year-old Dequarius Hilburn was booked into the Gregg County Jail on Dec. 30. He faces a murder charge in the death of 32-year-old Byrondrick Davis, who was shot on Dec. 27.
Officers responded to a shooting on the 100 block of West Highland around 7 p.m. and found Davis with gunshot wounds. He was transported to a hospital but later died from his injuries, according to the Longview Police Department.
Arrest documents identify Hilburn as the suspect. Investigators said a car driven by Hilburn was observed following Davis’ vehicle prior to the shooting and was captured on area surveillance cameras near the crime scene.
Hilburn remains in custody as authorities continue investigating the case.
