MARION COUNTY, Ind. — A Marion County Sheriff’s Office deputy is facing multiple charges after being accused of repeatedly shoplifting from a Walmart while on duty and wearing his official uniform.
Deputy Timothy Beavo has been charged with three counts of official misconduct (Level 6 Felony) and six counts of theft (Class A Misdemeanor), following a series of incidents investigated by local law enforcement.
The investigation began on March 30, 2025, when officers responded to a theft report at the Walmart on East Washington Street. Beavo allegedly skipped scanning items at the self-checkout, including $14.54 worth of fish oil pills. He was wearing his MCSO uniform and driving an official sheriff’s department van. He was initially allowed to leave without charges due to the low value of the item.
However, further investigation revealed Beavo had committed similar offenses on at least eight occasions dating back to February 13, 2025. In several instances, he was again in uniform and driving the MCSO vehicle. Unpaid items across multiple incidents included light bulbs, Coffee Mate creamer, and thick-cut bacon, among others.
After being confronted and interviewed by police on April 2, Beavo initially blamed the register for not alerting him to missed scans. But under further questioning and after being presented with surveillance footage, he admitted to the thefts.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that Beavo’s employment has since been terminated. An arrest warrant was issued by Marion Superior Court 34, and the case is now proceeding through the court system.
