Deontae Williams Arrested for Fraud & Identity Theft in NC

Accused of stealing from Edgecombe County Clerk’s account

Authorities in Edgecombe County, North Carolina, have arrested Deontae Williams for allegedly stealing thousands of dollars from the Clerk of Court’s bank account.

Investigation & Arrest
According to the Edgecombe County Sheriff’s Department, Williams began using the clerk’s office bank details in June 2023 to pay his personal bills.

On Wednesday, Zebulon police arrested Williams on multiple fraud and theft charges.

Charges & Legal Action
Williams faces:

6 counts of identity theft

6 counts of obtaining property by false pretenses

He is currently being held at the Wake County Jail on a $50,000 secured bond as the investigation continues.
