Dennis T. Michaud Jr., a 22-year-old man from Nashua, New Hampshire, has been charged with illegally trafficking firearms into Massachusetts over a five-week period, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Massachusetts announced on March 21. Michaud, who is accused of acting as an unlicensed firearms dealer, allegedly communicated with undercover agents via Snapchat to arrange illegal firearm sales.
According to court documents, Michaud’s illegal transactions included the sale of a Good Time Outdoors CXV Core 15 semiautomatic rifle on February 11, which he sold to a confidential source for $900. On February 18, Michaud allegedly sold several more firearms, including a Taurus Raging Hunter revolver, a Rossi .38 Special revolver, and a Walther PPS 9mm pistol, for a total of $2,100.
On February 27, he allegedly delivered a Radical Firearms RF-15 short-barreled rifle and a Sig Sauer P227 pistol with ammunition. The final transaction occurred on March 20, when Michaud sold a Century Arms 7.62x39mm AK-style rifle, a Smith & Wesson 9mm pistol, and a Taurus PT-22 pistol for $2,250, before being taken into custody immediately after the sale.
Michaud does not possess a federal firearms license and is prohibited from owning firearms due to a prior marijuana possession conviction in New Hampshire. If convicted of the charges, Michaud faces up to 15 years in prison, three years of supervised release, and a fine of up to $250,000.
As per U.S. legal procedures, Michaud is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
