HOPKINSVILLE, KY — A traffic stop for a seat belt violation led to the arrest of an Ohio man on drug trafficking charges Tuesday afternoon in Hopkinsville.
According to Hopkinsville Police, 47-year-old Demuiress Harris was pulled over on West 7th Street for not wearing a seat belt. Officers reported smelling marijuana coming from the vehicle, prompting a search.
The search revealed four grams of cocaine packaged for sale, suspected ecstasy pills, and marijuana.
Harris was arrested and is facing multiple charges, including trafficking in cocaine, first-degree possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, operating on an expired license, and failure to wear a seat belt.
He remains in custody as the investigation continues.
