Demontrez Olds Charged in Kinston Attempted Murder Case

19-year-old accused of firing into occupied home

KINSTON, NC – A 19-year-old man has been arrested and charged with attempted murder after a shooting incident involving an occupied residence in Kinston earlier this month.

According to the Kinston Police Department (KPD), officers responded to a shots fired call on Briarfield Road at approximately 1:29 a.m. on Monday, August 11. Upon canvassing the area, police discovered a home that had been struck by gunfire six times. The residence was occupied at the time, but no injuries were reported.

Following a review of security footage and further investigation, detectives identified a suspect. On Thursday, August 21, officers located and arrested Demontrez Olds, 19, in the George Avenue area.

Olds has been charged with the following offenses:

Attempted Murder

Discharging a Firearm into an Occupied Dwelling (6 counts)

Malicious Assault in Secret (2 counts)

Felony Carrying a Concealed Gun

Injury to Real Property

Discharging a Firearm within City Limits

Going Armed to the Terror of the People

Olds was booked into the Lenoir County Jail. The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities have not ruled out additional arrests or charges.
