GREENVILLE, N.C. — Greenville Police have arrested a man in connection with the death of his mother after she was found deceased during a welfare check.
54-year-old Demetrius Williams was taken into custody in Wilson on outstanding absconder warrants and transported to the Greenville Police Department for questioning.
Following the interview and ongoing investigation, Williams was charged with the murder of his mother, 76-year-old Dessie Mae Williams.
Officers were called to the Moyewood neighborhood on Saturday, Dec. 13, 2025, for a welfare check, where Ms. Williams was pronounced dead at the scene.
Williams is being held at the Pitt County Detention Center ahead of his first court appearance. The investigation remains ongoing.
