Demarkus Alford & Santannah Grate Arrested for Drug Trafficking

Traffic stop in Columbus County leads to cocaine seizure

COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WWAY) – A routine traffic stop near Tabor City led to the arrest of two individuals and the seizure of over 23 grams of crack cocaine, the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office reported.

Authorities conducted the stop at approximately 1 p.m. on March 13 along Swamp Fox Highway. Upon searching the vehicle, detectives discovered crack cocaine packaged for distribution, along with drug paraphernalia.

Suspects and Charges:
Demarkus Quantrel Alford (Driver):

Possession with intent to sell or deliver cocaine
Possession of drug paraphernalia
Driving with a revoked license
Failure to stop at a stop sign
Bond: $2,000 secured
Santannah Lenell Grate (Passenger):

Possession with intent to sell or deliver cocaine
Possession of drug paraphernalia
Maintaining a vehicle for controlled substances
Bond: $2,000 secured
Both suspects were taken into custody, and further investigations are ongoing.
