Two Charlotte men arrested for attempted bank fraud in Denver

DENVER, N.C. — Two men from Charlotte were charged last week following an attempted bank fraud at a Denver Fifth Third Bank, according to the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office.

On September 5, deputies responded after bank employees reported suspicious activity involving two men trying to access another person’s funds using fraudulent identification.

Authorities identified the suspects as 22-year-old Delvario Boyce Jr. and 62-year-old Earnest Burris Jr.

Boyce faces several charges, including attempted obtaining property by false pretense, possession of a firearm by a felon, identity theft, and carrying a concealed weapon. He posted an $11,000 bond and appeared in court on September 8.

Burris was charged with attempted obtaining property by false pretense and identity theft. He remains held on a $5,000 secured bond, with his next court date scheduled for September 29.

The Catawba County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the case.
