DELTA STATE, Nigeria — The Delta State Police Command has arrested a notorious syndicate linked to robbery, fraud, and theft in a coordinated week-long operation between August 11 and 16, 2025.
According to Police Public Relations Officer SP Bright Edafe, operatives from the CP-Special Assignment Team acted on credible intelligence to track and apprehend suspects operating across Warri, Ughelli, and other parts of Delta and Edo states.
The eight primary suspects have been identified as Ibrukoko (32), Obruch Actor (31), Lucky Umukoro (28), Emmanuel Buruutu (22), Musa Abdulahi (27), Sokoh (30), Preye Julius (36), and Kadija Abass (30). They allegedly used hypnotic tricks to rob victims of valuables including mobile phones, motorcycles, jewellery, and cash.
Police recovered two Toyota Camry vehicles (LND-809-HE and KSF-61-JU) and 16 suspected stolen iPhones. Preliminary findings suggest the group defrauded victims of over ₦23.5 million and may be responsible for the theft of at least 42 motorcycles and other personal items.
Edafe confirmed the suspects and exhibits are in custody and that investigations are ongoing to identify additional victims and recover more stolen property.
Separate Operation: Ladder Theft Ring Busted
In another breakthrough, the Divisional Police Officer of Ekpan Police Division responded to multiple complaints regarding stolen ladders. The perpetrators reportedly posed as customers, hired ladders, and never returned them.
On August 12, 2025, police arrested Esquire Stanley, who confessed to selling each ladder—valued at ₦250,000—for only ₦20,000. Following this lead, authorities arrested receivers of the stolen goods: Chinedu Okorie, Orgi Abara, Philip Augustine, and Obone Jevweu. Police recovered 11 stolen ladders.
So far, 10 suspects are in custody in connection with both cases, and investigations remain active.
