A brother-sister duo, allegedly involved in 31 criminal cases of theft and snatching, was apprehended by police after a mobile phone snatching incident in northwest Delhi’s Maurya Enclave, officials said.
The accused were identified as Maninder Kaur and Amanpreet Singh, both residents of Chander Vihar. Police noted that Maninder Kaur was linked to eight prior cases, while Amanpreet Singh was associated with 23 cases involving theft, snatching, and other offences.
On March 18, Titiksha Sharma reported that her mobile phone was snatched by a boy and a girl while walking from VIPS towards Income Tax Colony. The suspects fled on a two-wheeler towards Madhuban Chowk.
A case was promptly registered, and an investigation was launched. During the probe, police discovered that the duo had attempted a similar snatching the previous day in the same area. CCTV footage revealed that the two used a stolen motorcycle traced to Samaypur Badli.
Police apprehended Maninder Kaur on the day of the incident. During interrogation, she disclosed her brother Amanpreet Singh’s involvement and revealed that the stolen mobile phone was in his possession.
Subsequently, Amanpreet was arrested in Ludhiana. Authorities recovered the snatched mobile phone and seized the stolen motorcycle used in the crime.
