Delhi Police Bust Rs3 Cr Online Fraud Racket 3 Arrested

Scam Involving Crypto & Fake Investments Linked to China

by Ananya Mehta

Delhi Police have cracked a Rs3 crore online fraud racket by arresting three individuals involved in duping victims through fake investment schemes linked to cryptocurrency and international contacts.

The case surfaced after Suneet Kumar Suri, a 64-year-old from Vivek Vihar, was conned into investing Rs2.25 lakh in a fraudulent plan. Suneet was lured via misleading social media ads and added to a WhatsApp group named “NJ Elite Growth Plan 768”, where fake profit screenshots were circulated.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Shahdara) Prashant Gautam explained that additional money was demanded under the pretext of IPO deliveries, which raised suspicions and prompted Suneet to file a complaint.

Following technical surveillance, police analysed bank transactions, IP logs, and WhatsApp chats. This led to raids across Delhi and the arrests of:

Ayush Koli (Roop Nagar), who operated an IndusInd bank account used in the scam.

Sanjeev Kumar (Shalimar Bagh), who managed fake accounts and coordinated crypto deals with contacts in Hong Kong, especially involving USDT transactions.

Akash (Shakurpur), who used fraudulently obtained SIM cards to run scam networks.

Recovered items include three mobile phones, four laptops, a Paytm POS device, and digital evidence.

DCP Gautam disclosed that WhatsApp chats from Sanjeev’s phone indicate ties with Chinese nationals, suggesting this is part of a larger cross-border crypto fraud operation.

The investigation is ongoing to uncover more accomplices and recover defrauded funds.
