In the first case, a 28-year-old man was apprehended for allegedly stealing jewellery from his relative’s house in Dwarka’s Uttam Nagar. To evade detection, he falsely claimed to be a sub-inspector, police said.
An e-FIR was registered by the relative. DCP (Dwarka) Ankit Singh stated, “No locks or doors were found broken, indicating that a known person was involved.” Investigations revealed that the stolen jewellery had been hidden at the accused’s maternal grandfather’s house in Ambota, Himachal Pradesh.
Police recovered two gold chains, two gold rings, a pair of gold earrings, and a 20-gram gold biscuit. Section 317 (stolen property) was added to the case.
In a separate incident, 27-year-old Raj Kumar was arrested for allegedly breaking into a house in Central Delhi’s Anand Parbat, stealing gold and silver jewellery worth Rs 2 lakh and cash of Rs 11,300.
DCP (Central) Nidhin Valsan said, “Acting on a tip-off, the accused was identified and apprehended from Janta Park in Anand Parbat on Friday.”
Both cases are under investigation, and authorities are probing if the accused were involved in other thefts in the area.
