Delhi Police have arrested two men in separate cases of house theft, recovering stolen gold and cash.
In the first case, a 28-year-old man allegedly stole jewellery from a relative’s house in Uttam Nagar, Dwarka. The accused reportedly posed as a sub-inspector to mislead the police. An e-FIR was registered by the victim after noticing no signs of forced entry, suggesting that the thief was known to the family, said DCP (Dwarka) Ankit Singh.
Investigations revealed that the stolen items were hidden at the accused’s maternal grandfather’s house in Ambota, Himachal Pradesh. Police recovered two gold chains, two gold rings, a pair of gold earrings, and a 20-gram gold biscuit. Section 317 (stolen property) has been added to the case.
In a separate incident in Central Delhi, a 27-year-old man was arrested for allegedly breaking into a house in Anand Parbat. He reportedly stole gold and silver jewellery worth ₹2 lakh and cash amounting to Rs11,300. Acting on a tip-off, police identified the accused as Raj Kumar and arrested him from Janta Park, Anand Parbat, confirmed DCP (Central) Nidhin Valsan.
Both arrests underscore Delhi Police’s efforts to curb interpersonal and opportunistic house thefts, while warning citizens to remain vigilant about home security.
