Delhi authorities have made a significant drug bust, seizing 141.9 grams of cocaine valued at Rs 1.5 crore and arresting two individuals involved in narcotics distribution. The suspects, Yao, a 40-year-old African national, and Bikas, a 23-year-old from Bihar, were apprehended near Bhikaji Cama Place on Friday.
According to the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (South West), Akanksha Yadav, the two were supplying cocaine throughout Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR). Acting on a tip-off, the police set a trap, leading to their arrest at a bus stop on Ring Road. A subsequent search revealed the seized cocaine.
Yao, who entered India in 2018 on a tourist visa, overstayed after it expired. Initially selling small amounts of cocaine, he later transitioned to large-scale distribution. He was previously arrested in Gurugram and spent time in Bhondsi jail. During his time in prison, he met Bikas, who was also incarcerated for drug-related charges. After their release, the two formed a partnership to expand their drug operations.
Bikas scouted locations to avoid police detection, while Yao handled the distribution network. Their arrest marks a significant step in dismantling this illegal drug trade in the region.
