The Delhi Traffic Police have uncovered a forged No Entry Permission sticker scam involving commercial vehicles illegally operating during restricted hours. Two cases have surfaced, leading to the arrest of three individuals connected to the fake permit racket.
On May 15, Sub-Inspector Ritul and Constable Phool Kanwar stopped a commercial vehicle at ITO Chowk. The vehicle, driven by Dilip Kumar from Etah, displayed a No Entry Permission sticker which, upon verification via the E-challan system and confirmation from the Traffic Headquarters, was found to be forged.
The driver disclosed that the permit was purchased by the vehicle owner from an unknown source at Azadpur Fruit and Vegetable Market. The vehicle owner’s brother, Rajesh Kumar, admitted to obtaining the fake pass from Tushar, who was later arrested. Tushar confessed that he sourced the forged sticker from Sonu Kumar Mishra, a cyber café owner from Burari’s Indraprasth Colony, who was also apprehended.
In a related incident on May 14, a commercial vehicle driven by Muzzamil was caught operating in the No Entry zone with a counterfeit permit purchased from Faizuddin. Muzzamil was arrested.
The police continue to investigate the network supplying these fake No Entry Permission stickers and are probing the possibility of similar forgeries being used elsewhere in Delhi.
