Delhi Police have arrested three men—Ravi (19), Mandeep (21), and Kaleem (32)—for allegedly operating a digital investment scam that cheated unsuspecting people of more than Rs88 lakh, officials said on Tuesday.
The arrests were made during coordinated raids across Delhi, Gurugram, and Hisar. According to investigators, the trio was part of a larger cyber-enabled financial fraud network that used intimidation, fake identities, and fraudulent investment platforms to target victims.
A senior police officer explained that the gang often impersonated law enforcement officials to pressure their targets. In one case, a 71-year-old woman was threatened with legal action by callers posing as police officers, forcing her to transfer Rs49 lakh.
In another incident, a 43-year-old stationery shop owner was tricked into investing Rs39.5 lakh after he was promised substantial profits through cryptocurrency trading.
Police revealed that Ravi and Kaleem were responsible for creating and selling mule bank accounts for commissions, while Mandeep distributed one such account within the group. To avoid detection, the trio reportedly changed locations frequently.
Investigators tracked them down using technical surveillance and intelligence inputs. The scammers used a typical “digital arrest” technique—pressuring victims by pretending to be authorities before extracting money.
The accused allegedly created bogus investment websites, funneled funds through multiple accounts, withdrew cash from ATMs, and hired unemployed youth to manage these accounts.
Police confirmed that further investigation into the network and its operations is ongoing.
