In a significant drug bust, the Delhi Police have arrested two drug peddlers, including a Nigerian national, in the Sarojini Nagar area. 59.88 grams of cocaine was recovered from their possession, officials confirmed on Monday.
The Nigerian peddler, identified as Chimezie Fabian Chidolue, aged 29, was residing in Vasant Kunj Enclave, South Delhi. His Indian accomplice, Ankit Kumar, 25, hails from Kusumpur Pahari, Vasant Vihar.
The arrest was made by a dedicated team led by Sub Inspector Anoop Kumar, with the cooperation of SI Pramod, ASI Lalit Parshad, Head Constable Amajeet, HC Sukhpal, Ct. Bhoop Singh, Ct. Ajeet, and Ct. Munesh under the overall supervision of Ranbir Singh, ACP Safdarjung Enclave, and the South-West District. The team was tasked with a special mission to tackle the narcotics trade, focusing on identifying and disrupting the supply chain of narcotic drugs and other contraband substances in the area.
On April 14, during routine night picket duty near the Leela Hotel roundabout, the team spotted a white Swift Dzire car approaching the picket. Upon signaling the vehicle to stop, the driver appeared suspicious and tried to flee. However, the alert police officers managed to tactfully apprehend him, recovering the cocaine from the vehicle.
This arrest is part of the police’s ongoing efforts to disrupt the illegal narcotics network in Delhi, with a special focus on ensuring random checks and picketing during odd hours to catch criminals engaged in drug trafficking.
