The Delhi Police have arrested Mohammad Farman (41), a resident of Amroha, Uttar Pradesh, in connection with a series of interstate bus thefts in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. Farman, an active member of an organized criminal gang, had fled after stealing 10 kg of silver and Rs 3 lakh cash from bus passengers.

Police said the gang would pose as passengers or bus staff to identify vulnerable targets by observing luggage, security, and passenger movements. The thefts were often executed during early morning hours when passengers were asleep.

The arrest came after a request from Karnataka Police, who reported Farman was hiding in Delhi and the National Capital Region. Acting on specific information, the Delhi Police laid a trap near an NHAI toll plaza in Gurugram on December 26 and apprehended the accused.

Farman is wanted in a case registered at Kundapura Police Station, Karnataka, under Section 305 of BNS for theft from moving buses. He is also linked to a 2022 case at Subramanyam Nagar Police Station under Sections 399 and 402 of IPC for preparation and assembly to commit dacoity.

Authorities described him as a habitual offender with a criminal history spanning multiple states. Investigations are ongoing to identify other gang members and recover stolen property.
