The Delhi Police arrested a married couple on Monday for their involvement in a series of snatchings and vehicle thefts in the Rani Bagh area of outer Delhi. The duo, identified as Rahul alias Mota (30) and his wife, reportedly stole two-wheelers which they used to commit snatchings and robberies before abandoning the vehicles to avoid detection.

During one incident, the woman, dressed in a pink suit and riding pillion, snatched a gold chain while Rahul sped away on the stolen bike. Authorities registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at the Rani Bagh police station.

Investigators reviewed footage from over 300 CCTV cameras around the crime scene and escape routes. The vehicle’s registration was traced to a theft reported from Nihal Vihar on the same day. Using the CCTV trail, police tracked the suspects to Nangloi, with a local informer identifying them as residents of Sultanpuri.

While the couple was on the run, police received intelligence that they were hiding in Hastsal, Uttam Nagar. Multiple raids led to their arrest. A stolen scooter used in the crimes and a gold chain weighing approximately 20 grams were recovered from their possession.

Rahul has a history of 10 prior criminal cases, while his wife has five registered cases.
