Delhi Police have arrested four men involved in a violent robbery in the Pitampura area, where a cooperative society owner was robbed of Rs 30 lakh on March 25, 2025. The victim, Krishan Gupta, 59, was attacked by the suspects after being followed on his way home from his office in the Tri Nagar area.
Gupta was returning from the Ek Sahara Cooperative UT Credit Society Ltd with his helper, Balvinder Singh, when two of the robbers ambushed them at a traffic signal near HDFC Bank, R P Block, Pitampura. The attackers, armed with sticks, beat Gupta and Singh before seizing the bag containing the cash.
As Gupta was attacked, his helper, Balvinder Singh, fled the scene, fearing for his safety, leaving Gupta behind with the bag of money. The robbers, identified as Rustom (35) and Anil (42), threatened Gupta and took the bag before making their escape.
Meanwhile, two additional suspects, Sanchit (22) and Shival (24), were waiting nearby on motorcycles with another bag. After the robbery, Anil transferred a portion of the money into Sanchit’s bag, and both Sanchit and Rustom fled the scene on their bikes. Anil and Shival followed them in a Tata Punch car.
CCTV footage from the area showed Anil attacking Gupta with a stick during the robbery. The investigation revealed that Anil and Rustom worked as bouncers in Sonipat, where they ran a gym and also teamed up as loan recovery agents. Anil had gathered information about Gupta while recovering a loan from a different client.
According to the police, Sanchit and Shival were initially unaware of the violent nature of the crime. They were convinced by Anil that their role was to simply stand by and observe, with the promise of a share of the loot. Both are reportedly preparing for government exams and had no previous criminal records.
The four suspects had traveled to Delhi four days before the robbery to conduct a reconnaissance of the area. Following a detailed investigation, Delhi Police successfully apprehended the suspects. The arrests were made after a thorough review of CCTV footage, witness statements, and intelligence gathered during the investigation.
