Delhi Police Crime Branch has successfully dismantled a large narco-syndicate operating across multiple states, arresting seven key members including three Nepalese nationals, officials said on Wednesday.

The operation resulted in the seizure of over 17 kilograms of charas (hashish), valued at approximately Rs 8.75 crore on the international market. The syndicate was reportedly involved in supplying charas from Nepal and Kasol in Himachal Pradesh to states including Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, and Rajasthan.

The accused have been identified as Mohammad Jamal (Nihal Vihar, Delhi), Prem Thapa, Ganga Gurung Thapa, Ankit Budha—all Nepalese nationals—Pradeep Kumar from Ballabhgarh, Haryana, Manjeet from Mohali, Punjab, and Moti Lal from Jaipur, Rajasthan.

The investigation began on November 20 last year, following intelligence about a Nepalese national supplying charas in the Majnu Ka Tila area to a local trafficker named Jameel. Police raided a hotel where Prem Thapa (32) and Jameel (35) were caught exchanging over 1 kilogram of charas.

Prem’s confession led to the arrest of his supplier Ganga Gurung Thapa in Wazirabad, where police recovered 712 grams of charas and a further 13.766 kilograms from his residence. Another key supplier, Ankit Budha, residing in Kasol, was arrested; he was the primary source for Prem.

Pradeep Kumar, who distributed charas in Ballabhgarh and Faridabad, was also arrested, along with Manjeet and Moti Lal as part of the wider operation.

Officials confirmed that Mohammad Jamal sourced charas from Prem, who in turn obtained supplies from Ganga in Nepal and Budha in Himachal Pradesh. Ganga was identified as the main supplier to Delhi NCR and Punjab.

Special Commissioner of Police (Crime) Devesh Chandra Srivastva praised the coordinated effort, calling it a significant blow to narcotics trafficking in the region.
