In a tragic incident in Rohini, Delhi, a man has been arrested for allegedly murdering his wife and mother-in-law following a dispute over exchanged gifts during his son’s birthday celebration. The police received a PCR call on Saturday at 3:50 pm reporting the killing of Kusum Sinha (63) and her daughter Priya Sehgal (34) in Sector-17, Rohini.

Megh Sinha, Kusum’s son, informed the police that his mother had visited Priya’s residence on August 28 to celebrate the birthday of her grandson, Chirag. During the event, a disagreement erupted between Priya and her husband, Yogesh Sehgal, about the gifts exchanged between the families. Kusum stayed back at the house to help resolve the dispute.

On August 30, when Megh failed to reach his mother by phone, he visited Priya’s home and discovered the door locked with visible bloodstains near the entrance. After alerting other family members, the door was broken open, revealing Kusum and Priya lying in a pool of blood.

The police allege that Yogesh Sehgal, currently unemployed, killed both women and fled with the children. He has been arrested, and the police recovered blood-stained clothes and a pair of scissors believed to have been used in the crime. Authorities have called forensic teams to assist in the investigation, which is ongoing.

Himalaya, Priya’s brother, expressed his shock, stating the family was unaware of the deadly escalation despite the ongoing marital disputes. “Who kills their wife and mother-in-law like this? It is so inhuman,” he said.
