MADISON, Wis. — A 22-year-old Madison man, DeJaun Angelo, was arrested Friday after allegedly posting threatening and discriminatory messages on social media, prompting a federal and local investigation.
According to the Madison Police Department, the arrest came after the FBI and a state Department of Criminal Investigation analyst flagged numerous posts made by Angelo on the platform X (formerly Twitter). The posts reportedly included slurs and threats targeting Black people, Jewish people, and members of the LGBTQ+ community.
Angelo was arrested around 2:15 p.m. on Friday in the 900 block of Williamson Street. Following his arrest, authorities executed a search warrant at his apartment, where they allegedly discovered 23 firearms, along with marijuana and psilocybin mushrooms. Several electronic devices were also seized.
He is now facing multiple felony charges, including:
Making terroristic threats
Maintaining a drug trafficking place
Possession with intent to deliver THC
Possession with intent to deliver psilocybin
According to a criminal complaint filed in Dane County, Angelo admitted to making the posts and described himself as “very opinionated.”
Angelo made his initial court appearance on Monday, where his bond was set at $30,000. The investigation remains ongoing.
