Dehradun police arrested two drug smugglers, Neeraj Singh (30) and Pushpit Shukla (24), on Friday while they were transporting 32 grams of illegal smack valued at around Rs 10 lakh. The arrest took place near the IT Park Gate on Dhoran Road during a routine police check.

Neeraj Singh, a contract worker at ONGC, and Pushpit Shukla, a resident of Uttar Pradesh, were intercepted riding an Activa scooter. The police found 40 small packets of smack ready for sale, cash amounting to Rs 10,620, and an electronic weighing scale on them.

SHO PD Bhatt of Rajpur Police Station revealed that the duo confessed to trafficking drugs for an extended period. They disclosed that their supplier, Arun, operated in areas like Moradabad, Najibabad, and Haridwar. The traffickers specifically targeted young people, including college students in Dehradun, selling drugs in small, high-priced packets.

A case has been registered under Sections 8/21/27/29/60 of the NDPS Act at Rajpur Police Station. The police are continuing their investigation to dismantle the larger drug network and identify more suspects.
