In a dramatic turn of events, Dehradun police apprehended Anubhav Tripathi, a 23-year-old criminal from Hardoi, Uttar Pradesh, following a tense encounter in the Premnagar area on Tuesday. Tripathi, a suspected member of an interstate vehicle theft gang, sustained a bullet injury during the confrontation. Police also seized a 315-bore country-made pistol from him.
According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ajai Singh, Tripathi had previously been incarcerated in Lucknow for theft-related offenses. His arrest followed a tip-off about his presence near the Premnagar tea estate. When the police approached, Tripathi reportedly fired at the officers, prompting them to retaliate. As a result, Tripathi was injured in his right leg.
Further investigation revealed that Tripathi and his associates had traveled to Dehradun to commit a major crime. Authorities are now gathering more information about his criminal history and other members of the gang.
The police action marks a significant blow to the gang’s operations, and authorities are continuing their efforts to dismantle the criminal network.
